Specialist Accreditation
Look for the Logo. Accredited Specialists.

We all know that solicitors are legal experts who study hard in order to practise law. But what is an Accredited Specialist?
Solicitors who present themselves as Accredited Specialists not only have the qualifications required to practise Law, they have also undergone further assessment and examination by their relevant law society to prove they have an advanced level of legal expertise in a particular area of Law.
Specialist Accreditation is a reliable way for the public and the legal profession to identify solicitors who have demonstrated their legal proficiency in a specific area of practice. Only solicitors with this award are permitted to use the Specialist Accreditation logo. In order to keep their Accredited Specialist status, solicitors must apply for reaccreditation every year, and must devote at least one quarter of their work towards their specialist area of Law.
What are the specialist areas of law?
Queensland solicitors can obtain Specialist Accreditation in many areas of Law:
- Business
- Commercial Litigation
- Criminal
- Family
- Immigration
- Mediation
- Personal Injury
- Property
- Succession
- Taxation
- Workplace Relations
How do I know if my Solicitor is an Accredited Specialist?
You can ask! Your solicitor will be more than proud to tell you if he or she is an Accredited Specialist.
You can also look for the Specialist Accreditation logo, but it should be noted that the status of an Accredited Specialist is a personal award given to individual solicitors, not partnerships or larger firms.
Solicitors who have been awarded Accredited Specialist status can be found in the Find a Solicitor section of the SCES website, and are also listed on the Queensland Law Society website. You can find Accredited Specialist solicitors by name, by location and by specialty.
